Nature of Us
Nature of Us aims to bridge the gap between the arts and science sectors, highlighting the synergy between scientific content and artistic expression. In the cooperation of four Central European partners, NoU is dedicated to innovating artistic practices, in response to significant environmental crises.
The Nature of Us is a collaborative project of performing arts organizations from Central Europe: Live Performance Bazaar (CZ), Polka dot Foundation (PL), PlaST Contemporary Dance Platform (SK), Workshop Foundation (HU) building relationships with scientific and institutional partners. The partners are committed to gradually changing the social environment and perceptions of the citizens’ identity in relation to the natural world.
The project’s activities are organized around three central themes:
- Under InI – Intersections’ Insights, the focus is on learning each other’s context, fostering mutual understanding between artists and scientists. Activities include a mobility program where artists attend scientific events and scientists join artistic festivals; a conference offering collaborative workshops and discussions for experts of both fields; and a pilot project integrating artists into ongoing scientific research projects.
- CreCo – Creative Convergences emphasizes knowledge sharing and development. It includes residencies where scientist-artist pairs research environmental issues; a Symposium featuring diverse formats to share practices; the development of educational tools aimed at teaching environmental issues to youth; and the formation of an Art-Sci committee of art and science experts to evaluate and curate project activities.
- In EcoStage the focus is on awareness raising and presentation. This involves showcasing innovative educational tools in schools and local communities, presenting climate-themed performances at the Bazaar Festival, and supporting cross-sectoral performances created by environmental experts and artists.
